From time to time many of us end up falling to sleep without removing our makeup. A long day at work or a late evening may end up with not enough energy to clean our face before we head to bed. Does it really matter?

Cosmetic companies certainly are vocal about using their skincare products to clean your skin regularly. Some may chalk that up to being simply marketing pitches to sell us more products. But does their advice have a foundation in truth?

A reporter, age 40, for the Daily Mail decided to use herself as an experimental subject.  She went a month applying makeup as normal, but never took it off. At the end of the 30 days, experts said her skin had aged a decade. Reading her story, written with a reporter’s eye for the detail, is sure to change your to-do list about prioritizing cleansing before retiring to bed.
